I was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1960. Since then I have lived in Cork, Galway, Brussels, Belgium and now Dublin where I work as a freelance journalist specialising in technology issues.
My work has appeared in the Irish Independent - in the technology pages - Business Plus, Medicine Weekly - where I have a fortnightly technology column - ComputerScope and others.
I am also a dedicated science fiction fan and SMOF. I have helped organise several Octocons - Irish National SF Conventions - and I was Irish agent for Interaction, the 2005 Worldcon which took place in Glasgow in August 2005.
I'm also a member of Mensa, The High IQ Society and I am secretary of the Dublin branch and a member of the Irish committee.
I was recently diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus.
